Overview
The Neurology Update Symposium provides an evidence-based review on recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of common neurological disorders. The program covers the latest guidelines, clinical strategies and recent advances, including new approaches for diagnosis and expanded options for treatment. This year's topics include acute stroke therapy: the first 24 hours, stroke in the outpatient setting, treatment updates in multiple sclerosis and other demyelinating diseases, phenomenology in movement disorders, community centric deep brain stimulation programs, treatment of neuromuscular disorders, neuro-oncology for the community neurologist, neuro-ethics and more.
We encourage speakers to focus on clinically meaningful information and to use a case based approach. Our
educational format includes didactic lectures and case presentations with discussion and time for Q & A.
Course Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
1. Summarize treatment options for acute stroke, stroke in the outpatient setting, neuromuscular disorders and status epilepticus.
2. How to achieve diagnosis of brain tumors (glioma or primary CNS lymphoma) vs other neurological conditions including multiple sclerosis, ischemic stroke or CNS infections.
3. Standard of care for high grade glioma including glioblastoma for both newly diagnosed and recurrent disease.
Summarize treatment updates in multiple sclerosis and other demyelinating diseases.
4. To identify and understand the phenomenology of common and uncommon movement disorders encountered in clinical practice.
5. To formulate treatment approaches to common and uncommon movement disorders using phenomenology.
6. Recognize some ethical implications of lawful physician hastened death.
